Unless we get rain soon, I may not plant a garden. If you remember my post from last spring, you will remember that I have a love/hate relationship with my garden. I love to serve my family healthy fresh veggies that we worked together to grow. I hate that my garden doesn’t live up to the standard I have set for myself in my head.
So, unless Mother Nature provides some rain for me I am not committed enough to water in order to seed. Never mind continue to water consistently all season… I certainly would miss the feeling of accomplishment you get when you see your table with things that you grew with your own hands. On the other hand, I would miss my sanity even more.
However, this also illustrates why farmers need to continue to talk about mental health and keeping their sanity. I have the option to choose not to plant a garden. For farms such as ours, without irrigation, opting out of planning a crop is not happening. Our livelihood for the year depends on getting some moisture in the next few weeks. So I am going to quit typing and start praying for rain.
